The Climax Series is a postseason option for teams in the same division where
one team finished with a better record than the other. When the Climax Series
is enabled, the top two ranked teams play a series of games entirely at the
home field of the higher-ranked team. In this way, the lower-ranked team has
an uphill battle in order to win the series. If there are multiple Climax
Series, then the winner moves on to play in the home stadium of the next
higher-ranked team. Here is an example of a postseason with three Climax
Series.
Post-Season for no divisions with three Climax Series.

The Climax Series can be used to extend the playoffs to three rounds. When
there are no divisions, there are no natural playoffs, so three rounds of
Climax Series can be used. When there are two or four divisions, one or two
rounds of Climax Series can be used to determine the division champions who
will enter the natural playoffs. When there are three divisions, the wild card
is used and one round of Climax Series can be used to determine the wild card.
Unlike the Climax Series, Playoff Series alternate home and away, giving the
extra home game to the team with the better record.
Post-Season for three-division wild card with Climax Series.
